The Greenville News,
Greenville, SC on May 21, 2006 featured the front page article
"Duke Considers More Reactors on Keowee"
by reporter Paul Alongi. The article addressed a proposed nuclear power
plant to be build by Duke Energy and its impact upon residential
construction patterns in one of the nation's fastest growing suburbs of
$1.0 million new home construction.
"Thomas Paul Bearoff, a Pennsylvania-based real estate
consultant, said homebuyers in suburban Philadelphia have shied away from
lots that have a view of the Limerick plant. But home sites as little as a
quarter-mile away, shielded from the view, are going for up to $1 million.
He said; If you can see the towers, it's a negative."
